John L. Ulmer Translational Trainee Award

The ASFNR is proud to announce a request for applications for the 5th annual John L. Ulmer Translational Trainee Award.

The ASFNR John L. Ulmer Translational Trainee Award was created to honor the memory of John L. Ulmer. Dr. Ulmer was a Professor of Radiology and the Chief of Neuroradiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a past president of the ASFNR. Dr. Ulmer was a physician scientist with a passion for education and clinical translation of advanced neuroimaging techniques to clinical practice. As such, the ASFNR John L. Ulmer Award is meant for a trainee (neuroradiology fellow, radiology or nuclear medicine resident, medical student, graduate student, or undergraduate student) and to reward a research project that will contribute to the clinical translation of advanced neuroimaging techniques.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be a neuroradiology fellow, radiology or nuclear medicine resident, or a medical student, a graduate student, or an undergraduate student.

  • Applicant must be mentored by an ASFNR member in good standing.

  • Applicant should be ASFNR Members-in-Training (This membership is free. Please apply here.)

  • The topic must involve an advanced neuroimaging technique. It can be research or educational in focus and must address clinical translation in the broad sense of the term.

  • Published or previously presented works should NOT be submitted.

 

Process:

  • Applicant should submit a scientific abstract to the Annual Meeting and indicate intent to apply for the award on the abstract submission page: ​

  • The applications will be reviewed by the ASFNR Research Committee for excellence.

  • There will be one Awardee.

  • The Awardee will present during a session of the 2024 ASFNR Annual Meeting, matching the topic of the application.

  • The Awardee will be announced online and during the 2024 ASFNR Annual Meeting where the applicant will present.

  • Award will consist of a check of $1,000 plus a complimentary registration for the 2024 ASFNR Annual Meeting

 

Timeline:

  • Deadline for application is April 15th, 2024
